Door locks give us security from unauthorized intruders; we find door locks every where; there are different type of door locks like lever door lock with handle, simple door lock with handle and pocket door locks; all these door locks are made from different components and these components are referred as door lock sets.
Depending on type of lock the door lock might consists of one or more of these parts like handle, knob, main male part, secondary female part, lever, ball bearing, magnets; all these parts make a set and are called as door lock sets.
Door lock sets have different functions depending on the lock type; in lever handle locks the set includes a handle with the main part and it also has key hole and lever mechanism; in case of knob type lever lock the door lock sets consist of knob which is rotary in nature, in knob type there is spring mechanism inside the lock; lever lock also have key inserting feature in both handle as well as knob type lever locks; one can lock the door from inside as well as outside; the security in this type of locks is much more then other type of locking system; in many countries knob type lever locking system is not allowed because of its rotary nature which is difficult to open especially for kids and old people; handle lever locks are easy to operate therefore it is allowed at places where there are kids and old people.
Incase of simple handle locks door lock sets consists of handle, a key hole, and male and female part; male part which moves back and forth with handle is the main part and the female part is the secondary part which holds the male part; in knob system spring action is used in door lock sets with key hole on the knob itself; door handle lock system do not have key feature and just helps in closing the door; it is used where transparency is required and not privacy; such locks are used where there is no fear of theft.
There are locks which are to be locked from outside such locks could be lever based lock with handle or knob and it could also be simple door handle or knob lock but the lever locks are much more safer; one way locking from outside is usually used for store rooms or places which require optimum security; door lock sets is different for pocket door locks which might just consist of main part with thread spring action on the window pane which locks into a small part attached on aluminum frames which looks just like curled fingers.
Pocket door locks are also available in other different varieties with door lock sets consisting of a magnet in the main part which when slides and gets attached to a small iron piece fixed at opposite end; in other lock systems you can find door lock sets with a ball bearing in the female part and a small male part is attached to door which when closed gets into the female part with ball bearing which holds the door.
